Re: 16mm daylight spool??
All 100' 16mm film comes from Kodak on "Daylight Spools."
Whether or not you should load in "total darkness" is up for debate. Generally its fine to load in shade especially if its not for Super 16.
If you load on the beach in bright sunlight you could have some fogging on the edge of the first several feet but it probably won't be an issue for regular 16. Kodak is just covering their asses with that label.

Re: 16mm daylight spool??
Yes i've loaded my super 16 K-3 fine just in a dimmed room with no problems, although I haven't tried to load it outside yet.
It's generally recommended to tape up the edges of the K-3 with gaffer tape after loading to seal any possible light leakage whilst filming. I read this tip somewhere but can't comment how essential it is, depends on each K-3 I guess

OTOH, since I'm so stingy with film I load spools in total darkness to squeeze every last foot out.

Load them in direct sunlight. You will loose the first few wraps and that will be that. Then you will turn on ESPN duringt he 'X Games' and see the fogged fram transition everywhere.
Good Luck
