Super 8 cart left in camera still useable?

Post by The Seldon Plan »

Quick question - i shot half a cartridge of ektachrome and left it in the camera. It's been a couple of weeks so is it useless to try shoot the rest?

Quick answer - Don't worry about it, shoot.

This is film emulsion, not some fresh dairy product. It doesn't "go off" after a couple of weeks out of the fridge.

You won't notice any difference between the earlier and the later shots anyway. And even if you did (which is extremely unlikely) what have you got to lose anyway?

Film takes a number of years rather than a few weeks to deteriorate into an unusable state.
