Sony Vegas and Premiere Pro for commercial use?

Post by Chris-B »

Back on line cool! :D

So, starting with a question-
Can you use both Premiere Pro and and Vegas Pro for commercial use.

I'm looking into making some dvd's for commercial distribution (and want to pick up some editing software at the same time) and Encore comes with Premiere and Architect with Vegas.

I don't want to run into legal problems by using them for commercial use.
Is it ok to use them to make dvd's for commercial use?
I'm looking at Veags at the moment as it is half the price of Premeire.

What do you think?

Also I know Premiere has good colour, contrast, levels, gamma.... correcting tools for sorting out my DIY telecined film, but what do you think of Vagas for this? I'm just downlonding the trial version of Vegas now.

Thanks,
Chris.

P.S. I going to post soom of my new telecine examples done using my new 1/2inch CMOS Mightex c-mount camera soon. It's working great so far!

Sure why not? - if you pay for it it's yours to use.

I've just had a quick go on Vegas and I think it is seems a little basic. I just had a play about with a telecine of some home processed super 8 that needs some correcting and premiere seem loads better for this, or maybe I'm just too used to premiere.

Is there some stand alone alone DVD authoring software I can use for making commercial dvd's, as it is that that I need very soon. I just need some thing to make a couple of simple menus and a few chapters, nothing too fancy.
Maybe just something like Nero?
The cheaper the better!

Thanks, Chris.

I think I'm just going to buy Roxio's DVDit Pro HD.
I'll probably buy the download tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes.

Premiere is too expensive for me at the moment, and Vegas just doesn't seem good enough features wise for what need.

Anyone used it DVDit?
Any info or experiences with it would be great.

Chris.
