Hi, I have a super 8 camera with a broken trigger, it was on a rack for several years, so I decided to put it at work again. I put two wires where the batteries make contact, and it came back to life, BUT, after several minutes the battery (9 volt) became so hot that I can't hold it in my hand, soon I found out that the battery was death, so what happen? any ideas.
I don't know if I have to use 6 AA 1.5 volts batteries, and I haven't check it out but maybe I cross positive with negative or maybe I need something that distributed the energy from the battery to the others components so it didn't go directly? I really don't know. I appreciated any suggestions that help solve the problem.
Thanks.

batteries??
single 9v batteries are no good for s8 cams. That's why there's no single s8 cam out there that use them. Use 6x AAs instead.
What model camera is it? Be careful you're not sending 9v direct to the auto iris meter as anything over 1.2-5 volts will destroy it. Some cams separate and distribute power automatically/internally while others the plastic battery holder creates two separate circuits, one for the motor etc, the other for the iris (much lower voltage).
Powering up the camera is impossible if positive and negative are crossed. Batteries do heat up quickly.
Hope this helps.
