Moviflex GS8 aperture control

Post by indiestar »

I just picked up a Moviflex GS8. All things function with the exception of the automatic aperture control. When a cartridge is inserted and the trigger depresed the aperture control dial spins and the aperture is stopped down completely even while pointing the camera at direct sunlight.

Has anyone experienced this with their GS8?

WHat kind of film cart? and have you tried pressing the trigger INSIDE the house in a dark room? THen the dial should stay at f2.8...

It SHOULD stop down to the smallest setting (F16 or F22 or F45 or something when pointing at the sun.

Try playing with the Fade button. The underlying switch may have been stuck.

Sorry guys, your cameras are defective...I have 3 moviflexes with the same problem. I tried everything, no cure. The most important problem is that there is no one (?) in this planet who repairs the zeiss cameras. This is the most common fault these cameras develop. I have the service manual (in German! I don't understand a word!) and I can photocopy it and send it if you feel confident (and pay the expenses!).

moviflex GS 8 problem

I can't understand nobody is able to solve this problem !
We still can use it in manual mode with a cable release screwed in the black hole.
When you use Kodak 64 T, this is a 40 iso film in daylight. How to use a handheld meter like a Profisix Gossen to find the correct exposure ?
