gaffertape on clapperboard

Post by fireflame productions »

Hi. I'm a bit confused on why you write the info for a clapperboard on gsffer tape and then stick it on.
Would it not be quicker to just write it directly on?

Isn't it for information that you repeat alot - saves you rewriting it each time

Hello,
Scotness: Isn't it for information that you repeat alot - saves you rewriting it each time
Yes, thats true . Things like "60fps" (frames per second) or "MOS" (silent "Mit Out Sound") or "CAM A" (for camera A), etc., are information for the sticker because you need it very often. But there are no rules which info is for the sticker or the slate...

Typically my AC will use a label maker for the title of the show, director, my name, and things that will stay the same.

From there he will use a dry erase marker for the rest.

The tape isn't really any faster than a quick wipe & write. I think some people feel that they easier to read.

When I have a German AC writing the #1 drives me nuts.

Good Luck

What? You don't like upside-down V's in your numbers? :)

i use tape on black slates, i buy the cheap ones from hollywood souvenir shops, because chalk is hard to read, creates a mess, and sounds horrible, but on whiteboard slates i write directly on it with a dry erase marker. sometimes the slate is customized using permanent markers, but obviously not on short gigs where we use the slate that comes with the camera package.
