I leave for denmark, hungary, sweeden tomorrow...!

Post by Justin Lovell »

So I leave tomorrow with my girlfriend on a small tour of europe. Packin up my bolex rex-5, 5.9mm wide lens, 10mm lens and a nikon f-cmount adapter. Jess is bringing her d200 Nikon still camera, so I can steal her lenses :D

May be looking for some places to visit, or crash or maybe just hang out with some of the fellow shooters on the forum. I'll be in Sweeden and Hungary for the bulk of the trip. I may spend a day or two in Copenhagen- though it seems like it may be a drag to crash there at $200/night, anyone know of a good hostel out there?

Back to packing!

Happy shooting on vacation! I hear those places have some great sights! Great to hear you'll be capturing them on film. :)

If you're going to Hungary as well, might be worth hitting Prague (or the Czech Republic as a whole) too, lots of good sights, and cheap to get here / stay here; you can get a flight directly from Kastrup airport (Copenhagen) for under $60 if you fly with Sterling, or just get a train from Hungary for $20.

If you're going to stay for more than a couple of nights in Denmark, avoid staying IN Copenhagen. Hillerod and Holbaek offer good destinations near Copenhagen, if you're willing to go a little bit further, go to somewhere like Nykobing Sjaelland, or even try somewhere in Jylland like Aarhus/Aalborg.

I used to live in Denmark, and know how expensive things can be!

Since you'll be in Europe, perhaps you could pay a visit to a certain guy that owes you money for a camera you never received? ;)

Remarkable how close all places seem to be now :) While distances actually are quite considerable. It is a bit like when in New York city please drop by in Miami. And from Hungary to Kopenhagen at $20 (Euro 15).

But alas, enjoy. Should be good and plenty to see and do. Bring film along while buying in Europa may be time consuming and considerable more expensive.

Hi Justin,

London Stansted is a massive platform for cheap flights all around Europe (easyjet.com and ryanair.com) so if you end up there. Come to see Cambridge (25min from Stansted Airport) , it's one of the most beautiful place in England + very peaceful if you want to rest.

The Strawberry Super 8 team will be pleased to meet you and simon has always a spare bed.

pm if you're planning to visit us

Those are AF (electronic) lenses, right? I have a few and tried one with my f-c adapter and thought the connection looked awful rough on the AF contacts. I didn't have any evidence that it harmed anything, but it just didn't feel right. YMMV...

Well, i made it. I'm in copenhagen now. Not cheap is right!

Ridden with jet lag, I should sleep, but I think it'll only throw off my schedule even more. Got a great tiny room here beside a strip club, at the ascot hotel.

RE NIKON LENSES:
They seem to be working alright on the bolex. Silly me though, I should have brought my 70mm or at least something telephoto. We're going to be fighting for her 28-300 zoom lens.

Well, I'm offa here, I really should be enjoying the town, eating those funny hot dogs, not sitting on the laptop.

You should visit the original Tivoli parc. See the innocence and friendly ambience where all d**yland like parcs got their inspiration from (and totally forgot about the heritage).

I found the 'Duke and Duchess' across the street from Tivoli very nice for nightly entertainment. If this still exists as I was there quite some years ago. And things change.

Sunday 17th has good weather expectations.
