Heh, heh, heh... Live And Let Die Mr. Bond?.... crap lenses

well, on my sons request i suffered most of the Bond X "Live And Let Die" last night.. and boy what i saw: solid optical vignetting in low light/wide open "night" shots...

surely my 42 plazma is not top end but it is definatly not THAT set which created the dark corners - looked almost like a crap Beaulieu Schneider or Angineux lenz wide open...

so storm on boyz n gals... nothing to be ashamed of in the S8 kindergarten....

I'm a long-time James Bond fan, and I didn't notice that.
Personnaly, I think this Bond is anyway one of the worse. I prefer the 1969's On her majesty secret service. This film has a truly great photo.

Did you watch the remastered DVD, or an old DVD or a TV broadcast?

Could have been a crappy transfer. I have it recorded off-air from a late 80's broadcast and there's no vignetting.

Of course there were supposed to be two different aspect ratios of that film in circulation...maybe one is slightly cropped?

HQ digital cable broadcast.

looked good otherwise - the vignetting was more or less only but very visible in low light condition - at the island intro...- on island before or after the hanggleider sequence... very visible so and definatly a lens originated issue.

There was a 1.66:1 version and a 1.85:1 version...the former for Europe and the latter for the USA.

Likelyhood is I have only seen the former...which may be cropped compared to the USA version.
