John Porter Super 8 Event in Islington, London 4th February

Anyone on the forum thinking of going to this event? It's less than 100 yards away from where I work so I'm definitely going to put in an appearance, and his work looks interesting. Has anyone over in Canada or the States seen his stuff recently?

Anyone in the area should definitely go. I have seen some recent things but the show is bound to be a bit of a retrospective (and there are other dates on his Euro-tour (see http://www.super8porter.ca for details). If you are not familiar with Johns films, see my article in the July/August 2006 issue of Super 8 Today. John only shows his films in person, so this is a rare chance to catch him.

Yes, I'm planning to go to the Lumen event too, although I'm still working on the logistics of getting to Leeds and back! Hope to see you there.

John informed me that the Leeds show has sold out! Wow. Harass them for a second show.

I saw John's show in Rotterdam last week, and it was great. John is very nice, and lots of fun at the show. He presented 14 films, all projected on a GS 1200 Xenon projector. It was a delight, and many other people attending the festival were very taken with his work. I absolutely recommend it!

Cool,

Is anybody from the forum going to the London one?

Maybe we can meet after the screening?

Alex and myself (We run Blue Audio Visual and http://www.filmcamerakit.com) are both going to try to make it. Our shop is just around the corner and is open until 6pm on Sundays, though that will probably be earlier than the event finishes (?). Neither of us are timetabled in on Sunday, so we're going to show our faces. Anyone in the area is more than welcome to drop by the shop, should they wish, before the event - we've got some Super 8 & some 16mm gear on show, although admittedly our current stock is a little bit patchy right now after Xmas! It is a racing certainty that we will spend some time later in our local boozer, The Camden Head, 5 minutes walk away from Candid.

hi Bart,

We will try to pay you a visit tomorrow in your shop before the show if we arrive early enough
