Akio,

Do you mean that Fuji is extending the production of Single-8 film past March 2007? And the processing past September 2008?

That is good news. :)

I stared at the "translation" for a few seconds and it looks like they're continuing to manufacture and process Single-8 for the time being because of strong sales. Or maybe they're canceling production because they're tired of absorbing increasing costs for repairing their equipment?

Babelfish creates beautiful word salads. I just wish I knew whether this one is served with onions or croûtons, coz I hate onions.

Seems that the public voice - or the one from Single-8 users - is stronger than some might expect... :P

Thanks Fuji - for doing more than just for their stockholders!

Fuji changed decision: Production of Single-8 films will go on

The japanese photo brand Fuji retracts a former statement to stop the production of Single-8 films. On January 10th Fuji announced: "Our Single-8 films both R25N and RT200N were going to finish the production in March 2007 and its processing service was going to finish in September 2008. However due to the consumer's strong wish, we decided to change our plan and continue the film production and processing service. The sales quantities of the Single-8 is decleasing, also it is necesary to repair the film production machine and processing machine, therefore I would like to ask the customer to understand raising the price."

Tak Kohyama, owner of the Japanese company retro8.com, explained: "There was a lot of protest from professional film directors and amateurs here in Japan. Newspapers like Asahi published articles about the protest. The public made Fuji change his mind." More details in the next issue of smallformat.

This is incorrect.

Fuji's news release says only about "postpone of stopping "sales" and "processing" of Single-8.

They didn't write that they decided to continue production of films.

I don't mention the translater.

10th January, Fuji didn't write "continuing production of film"
They wrote "continuing sales and development of film"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And, on the other place, Fuji Film mentioned officialy the period of "sales" of 2 Single-8 films.

r25n...about 5 years
rt200n...about 3 years

And, prices.

r25n...+300yen
rt200n...+370yen
