canon 814 XL s vs. canon 1014 XL s

I don´t know nothing about this cameras, it apears that the 814 is better camera (variable shutter, less weight) but I don´t know is the 1014 has better zoom lens... :roll:

what do you think about these two cameras? which things are good and which bad?

1014 can do in-camera dissolves (814 can't) and 1014 has a 10X zoom lens (814 has 8X zoom lens). Other than that they are quite identical. I prefer the 814 as I don't need those other features and it's quite a bit lighter than the 1014.

rick's just afraid of the long lens.

(the 6.5mm wide end of the 1014 is nice too- not a LOT wider than the 814 but sometimes it can make a difference)

Something also to consider, the 814 XL doesn't have a 24 FPS option. The 814 (Autozoom, Electronic, and XL-S), and the 1014 (Autozoom and Electronic) do.

Edit: Oops, didn't ntoice the "S" at then end of 814 XL.

Both are excellent cameras, it all depends on your budget and whether you need the extra zoom reach, or in camera dissolves.

Original post referred to 814XLS, which DOES have 24 fps. dirb9 is right about the 814XL, but it is not part of the original post.
