This guy must be living on another planet.
There is another projector like it on eBay and the bidding is at $90. Do not those people check on current prices before placing their items on sale?
I know of a place in Austria where the same projector, in excellent condition, is selling for $150.
I feel bad for him.

After reading the description (claims to have owned the projector for nearly thirty years, and it breaks his heart to sell it), it seems like the seller thinks that sentimental value=big $$$. He'll find out the hard way that that is not true...
At least he's not asking two grand like that one seller a few weeks ago did.

Actually, I think his price is pretty reasonable. This is a dual 8mm sound projector and not just a super 8 sound Eumig. I watch for these all the time on ebay and they very rarely come up and, even when they do, they generally sell for about $200, even when missing the gates and sprockets for regular 8mm film. Super 8 sound projectors are common as flies but dual 8mm sound projectors are pretty rare, from what I've seen. I recently won a Silma out of Mexico but the asshole won't consumate the deal and won't return my emails because it sold lower than what he wanted, I guess. Jerk.
Hmmmm. In fact, this unit looks so clean, I'm thinking of buying it myself. I'll have to keep my eye on it. ;)

Let me display my ingnorance flagrantly here since I never used standard 8MovieStuff wrote:Actually, I think his price is pretty reasonable. Yes, if you take away the super 8 sprockets, you'll find, behind it, the standard 8 sprockets. You need the stand.8 film gate too.
About the price for that projector (575 $ for buy it now), I think that.. (ahaha).. I think... (AHAHAHAHAHAH), I.....
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Sorry.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.......

Silent dual 8mm projectors are infinately easier to engineer and build than dual 8mm sound projectors. Silent projectors don't actually have to have isolation sprockets for decent operation. In that sense, there are many silent dual 8mm projectors that have no sprockets at all and a simple mask that slides into place to allow for regular 8mm usage. I am not familiar with the inner workings of the Eumigs you have but I suspect (if they're silent) that they are sprocketless if all you need to do is flick a switch and nothing more, but I could be mistaken. If they're sound then you will need the second sprockets and the special gates for regular 8mm usage.Lunar07 wrote:Let me display my ingnorance flagrantly here since I never used standard 8I have three Eumig projectors - Eumig Mark 8, Eumig 810 D, and Eumig 710 D. They all are dual projectors with a switch to go between Super 8 and standard 8. I never used the standard 8. Are you saying that they all need a special sprocket/film gate to play standard 8?
Sound projectors MUST have isolation sprockets to maintain a loop between the capstan and the gate, otherwise you will get intermittance on the audio. This gets even more complicated when the projector needs to project both regular 8mm and super 8mm film, as the sprockets are different as well as the gate area.
