Just bought a Bauer S209-XLS...

Post by MusicAlly »

Hi everybody,

I recently purchased the above camera (and am waiting for delivery) and wondered if anybody has had any good or bad experiences with this particular machine. Any comments would be welcome.

I'm new to the world of 8mm, although my father filmed quite a lot in the 60's and 70's, and my grandfather is an avid 8mm shooter. Both of them along with the rest of my family are a little non-plussed by my wanting to continue with a format other than video, but I subscribe to the 'don't care' what other people think, and I know I'm in good company here. :D

Also, I shot a film about 10 years ago, never had it processed, and it's been lying in a camera since then. What do you think of the chances of anything showing up if I have it developed. The film in question is a Boots 25ASA/40ASA colour film bought in England.

Thanks.

Hi.

Can´t help you with the camera but I believe the film you shot 10 years ago will be no good. I "forgot" an exposed K40 S8 film in my cam from mid 1999 to spring 2002 and it came out all bad, pink, purple oscillating. It may have been stored a little warm in periodes but not a lot.

My first Super8mm camera was a Bauer S 207 XL (same as yours but 209 has a wider zooming range). These are very versatile cameras that are sturdy and good looking. I still use the Bauer I have. Good choice! Check out the way it can move between Macro and Normal lens functions. Seamless!
