Dodcap Price Change

Post by digvid »

I just wanted to give fair warning that the price of Dodcap will go up in about two weeks (i.e., by March 3). The price is currently $34.95 USD, and some time shortly after March 3 I plan to raise it to approximately $49.95 USD.

This is due to the fact that the feature set of Dodcap has increased dramatically since I first introduced it, and (while I have enjoyed it) it has consumed ever-increasing amounts of my time.

The feature set when I originally introduced it was:
- stop-motion capture capability
- pulldown during capture or immediately after
- preview window, but not during capture

The feature set of the next non-beta release will be:
- stop-motion capture capability (digital or analog)
- pulldown during capture or immediately after
- preview window before capture or
- preview during capture
- single-file post-processing pulldown module
- batch post-processing module with pulldown, timecode, image flipping
- custom media player with playback/record to DV
- lock mouse cursor in place during capture (in case you hit the mouse)
- "sticky" windows

Considering the functionality, I think it is still a bargain at that price. I hope potential buyers feel the same way...if not, feel free to let me know.

Also, I am still working on and testing the 1.32 beta so that I can produce a final, non-beta release by March 3rd. I am focusing mainly on usability issues. Some things I have fixed/added (but not released) since 1.32 are:

- improved PAL support in single-file pulldown module
- option to lock mouse cursor over sample button during capture
- added ability to flip image horizontally and/or vertically in batch module
- fixed bug in custom media player regarding resizing the dialog
- right-click in batch module to perform actions (e.g., adding files)

Things I plan to do before March 3rd are:

- make batch module resizable
- further testing
- make 720x480 file in custom media player fit on 800x600 desktop

As usual, I would love to hear any feedback users have regarding price and/or features.

Later!
