which cameras do i sell
Hi, if i see a right camera and the price is ok i will buy it, trouble is i own 2 canon 514xls, 2 x 814xls, 2 x 1014xls
3 x 310 xl,a 514 xl , leicina super, leicina special, beaulieu 4008 zm and zm4 and 5008s.........and a couple of small eumigs and canons.
Which of the list cameras would you advise i keep, and which should i think about selling??
I will keep the leicina special and zm4 and a 1014xls... DO i keep both 1014xls in case the other breaksdown, think i will regret anything i sell...any advice would be welcome

Well, that's a whole lot of cameras. I've never heard of anyone owning quite that many. Why would you need so many cameras?
Sell the Leicina Super, as you have a Special, which is far superior. Why would you EVER use the Super?
Sell the 814XLs, as you also have little to no use for them, but they're nice cameras for someone else to make films with
I'd sell everything but the Leicina Special, Beaulieu 4008 ZM4 and both the 1014s as you seem to be a big Canon fan, and sell ALL the others - why would you ever use them? Perhaps keep a mini Eumig if you have a nice example (so many of them are knackered now)
You own all the really good NOISY cameras. Perhaps you should get them crystal converted and find or commission a Universal Blimp to silence them (if you are a sound film maker) - they really work.

Hi, Lucas, I started with a 318m then 514xls,814xls finally purhasing the 1014xls, the first the cameras were brought brand new.....Your input was what i had in mind, the only thing is, i cant make my mind up whether to sell a 1014xls and keep the 814xls i own from new... may keep a 310xl.. all the other cameras came along in the right condition and price...like you say, its best to let someone else make use of the cameras, especially as there really only back up cameras
. On the eumig mini note, its in as new condition and runs a treat............ will give it more thought before i decide...thanks..
will keep you posted Mr floppy...

Hi Andy,
I am "into" 16mm as well, but don't own a camera at the moment. I used to have an Arri BL, which I sold and bought my current kit. I don't knoe where to find that lens, but ebay is by far the bast place to look. Try different search criteria. There isn't a Beaulieu 2016 on the whole of ebay, as far as I can tell.
Sell your cams here first.

Hi Andy,
I'm not really looking seriously for a 16mm camera at the moment actually, as Super8 is doing me fine at this stage of my career. I do like the 2016 though. It is crystal sync and quieter than the R16, though a bit plasticy, rather like the 6008. My favourite 16mm lens is the Zeiss T* 10-100, but it's quite a bit more pricey than the angenieux 12-120. I've never owned a single prime for a cine camera, so I wouldn't be much help to you.
I am principly a drama writer/actor/director, so noisy 16mm cameras aren't too much use to me, cool as they are.

Lucas> If I could only keep one Beaulieu ? Well, the 7008pro is the "best" I guess... but you always worry about it breaking or getting scratched...even though Lexan plastic is quite strong...
The 4008 zm4 is more sturdy since its made of metal ... feels more real, weighs more, and looks like a gun !
It has variable speeds 2-80 fps (not perfectly linear but anyway) whereas the 7008pro just have some increments... (some day I`ll have to try turning up the speed from 2-80 gradually so a fast motion shot becomes a slomo shot...)
...and the 4008 can also be x-taled...
But on the other hand ... the frame and centimeter lcd:s on the 7008 really makes shooting easier... otherwise you´re never really sure of how much there´s left in the mag!
I consider them equal actually, given that any internal filter is removed, lens and body matched and collimated etc etc
Aren´t the lightpaths in them the same (if the internal filter in the 4008 is removed) ? There is no filter in my zm4... it´s a late model with the small black declutch button.
I dunno, It´s a draw them between.
About the 2016: Yeah, I know that camera. I think it´s great.
80 fps, just like the 4008 zm4 and mirror reflex, you know the rest...
Too bad it´s not S16.... can´t be converted either, as far as I know...
But it´s x-taled...
Single pull-down is bad, but as always ... perfection costs.
I´m trying to find another cheap alternative for highspeed 16mm...
I want an Arri 16SR3 Adv. (who doesn´t)
