Film not running on a Beaulieu 4008ZM2

Post by Mr_Floppy »

Hi,

I've just received a Beaulieu ZM2 i've just won on a bid, and everything looks ok. I've pluged the battery, learn the damn function knob and get the zoom and meter to work, but the film transport does not respond at all. The camera was suppossed to be ok. Prior to claiming to the seller, could be any function / button / procedure I'm missing because of the camera does not work?.

Yours,

probably the battery is to weak to operate the filmtransport, but ok for the zoom and iris motors. Have you charged the battery, or can you test with a fresh one? That would be my guess..

btw, all beaulieus (4 in total, I got carried away a little..) i bought had dead batteries. Some could not be charged at all, some had enough power for the zoom, but none was good for filming. When buying a beaulieu, you should add the labor to recell the battery, or consider buying a new one if diy is no option.

On the other hand, probably a cla will be necessary to bring the camera to it's full quality, I would not count on a used beaulieu to be in working order, especially when the seller did not use it himself. In that case, the camera was probably unused for a decade, and in need of a checkup..
