I've got this old camera, in great condition. I aquired it from a friend of my father. They taught together in high school and used this camera to film football games. From what I gather online this camera is not too common in this particular configuration, and was dubbed "assistant coach".
Does anyone out there have any clue what this thing is worth? It's been well maintained and cared for. Not in bad shape at all. I'm going to be listing it at ebay and wanted to know what a fair price would be.
Thanks for any help you can offer. There's a pic below.
This is actually an M4 not an M5. The M5 has the magazine saddle on top. I have both models of these and with a Pan Cinor zoom like yours. I spent about $500 for each of these with the zoom over a year ago. The M4 I picked up at a camera show while the M5 I got on eBay. The M5 is a more useful camera because it can take the 400 foot magazine. Both can use the various Bolex motors because they have the 1:1 shaft. Cameraspro can convert either to Super16mm.
Thanks for the reply. M4, okay. I knew something was going on because the M5's I was seeing didn't really match what I had. Just made me think mine was a rare bird.
Is this still considered "asisstant coach" or is that pretty irrelevent, and not worth mentioning?
What year is your model M4? This one was bought originally back in the 70's. What would you say a ballpark asking price would be? As is.
Rita hit the Gulf Coast about 200 miles from me so my Bolexes are safe.
The M4 I have was my first 16mm animation camera and I traded a $500 K3 for it about 10 years ago. I got the M5 years later for about $500. Both are in good shape though I will have to check my Bolex Bible to see what year they were made. I currently use my Rx5 for animation which I bought for $1,000 a year ago. Prices for Bolex cameras have stayed high, the M models in good condition ranging from $400 to $600.
I'm sure the M4 (flat base) is worth more than the M1 (round base) which I have, but FWIW I paid $47 + shipping for my M1 body. The Pan-Cinor lens is probably worth $150-200 or so, but I wouldn't expect more than $275-300 for the whole package considering that you can get an early Rex model for around $350-400 with Switars, if you're lucky.
How do you take the lens of this camera, I need to know how to take the viefinder off on my camera but do not know how.
I apreciate your help thanks
