What other forums do you participate in?

Post by sooper8fan »

Just curious, that's all. What other forums are you all involved with? This is the only one I participate in, but I know many of you are involved in many others as well, for other aspects of filmmaking. If I wanted to participate in other ones, I'd never get any work done! So, just thought I'd see what other cool forums you guys are into.

No others for film making but a couple for former Beach Boy Brian Wilson, one for Formula 1 motor racing and a few for......sex ;)

My current top3 is:

photo.net (photography, great site to learn f. ex. different films, also some S8 shooters there)

digivideo.org (finnish site for DV containing forum also for Super8)

and then this filmshooting.com

Bubbling under: bodomjarvi.com, a site dedicated to a murder case which happened 1960 at the lake Bodom, Finland. After more than 40 years police has maybe find the killer. Contains also forum.

http://www.ephotozine.com/ (digital biased but good film section in the forum. Have difficulty convincing some people there that anything can be a substitute for something like a Nikon D70.)

Could this be why Kodak can't get 64t into the shops, because all their staff are surfing the Net.

http://8mmforum.film-tech.com - super-8 collecting forum, which is even more of a parallel universe than cinematography.com!... it's interesting how little super-8 film collecting/projecting seems to cross over with super-8 shooting/filmmaking!

http://www.animationnewport.co.uk (my old college's animation course forum)

Browse but rarely/never post on the following animation boards:
http://www.stopmotionanimation.com
http://www.awn.com
http://www.animationnation.com (tho it's mostly boring stockholm syndrome moaning about how they can't get jobs at Di$ney any more due to outsourcing  )
http://p203.ezboard.com/bcartoonretro

non-filmmaking:
http://www.productionig.com/Forums/
- official forum of the high end anime studio Production IG (of kill bill, Ghost in the Shell, etc fame). It's a bit quiet these days, but it was really great a couple of years back when a couple of gaijin worked for the company and there was a lot of communication with them, (i even was able to visit the studio when I was in Japan which was cool!) . It's still one of the better anime forums tho (ie not full of idiotic 14 year old Dragonaball fans like the whole rest of the internet.)

http://p206.ezboard.com/biheartnoise
I Heart Noise - the main harsh noise forum, really good for us noise weirdos.
Tim Drage
films - http:///www.spiteyourface.com
noise - http://www.cementimental.com

http://www.cinematography.com/
various Yahoo lists related to photography or cinematography

Hassan, when will Rene Zellweger hand you an Academy Award like the one she gave John several years ago? ;)

Reflex -
Leave Hassan alone man!
Why don't you simply let it drop? Who exactly installed you as the moral authority here? Hassan was joking, and here you have to drop your wise lines on the issue. Who told you that Hassan does not appreciate John being here? Who told you to speak for John? Why do I say that? When it counts Hassan helps, when it really COUNTS! And when it counts, you issue rhetorical magna cartas! I truly dislike your self-righteous attitude.

What gets me is your use of the word INANE!
First of all, speak for yourself,
Secondly, for the rest who seem to ask inane questions, maybe they'll quit asking their inane questions when Kodak FOR ONCE quits giving them INANE answers.

Not taking sides here but you don't see the irony in blasting Reflex for assuming what Hassan meant while you have no choice but to do the same? ;)
