Canon Autozoom 814 meter

Have been tinkering with a Canon Autozoom 814 that had some corrosion issues in the drive and meter battery compartments. I fixed the drive, but the meter is still dead. How hard is it to get inside one of these? Maybe I can re-wire it if the corrosion ran the wiring. I would hate to trash it, but I'm not confident with using it on manual exposure. This is the only thing that dosen't work on it. Any suggestions? Thanks. Mark
