Is this splicer as good as everybody says?
I want a splicer that make invisible splices. I'm trying to decide between this one and the bolex (cement).
Any clue?
Thanks

I have tried the famous Bolex cement splicer, but without success, I am now trying this Wurker splicer, but only have German instructions, I need a splicer that leaves both tracks free for stereo sound, and had heard this one was good, cement splicers like the Bolex, show a line on one frame which I was not happy with, I use two frame patches for less visibility on screen.
Hi, have not got an instruction manual, but I will try to explain how to use... Are you using wurker splicing tape..
With the film clamped and trimmed to length place tape in the teeth of the splicer with the red/orange part nearest you, pull off red/orange part of tape, push tape so it sticks to film.
Flip over the clamp assembley and pull off the white backing paper....you are now left with yellow backing paper on the film, peel this off, first with the clamp in the flipped position then clamp in original position....
remember red/orange backing paper first.
If you have one use the wurker roller to really get the splice flat...If you are using old wurker splicing tape, you may find removing the yellow backing will also remove the splice..
Great splicers as long as you use the makers tapes (others will do) and use the roller.....

Wurker splicer
I believe the great S-8mm film making book "Super-8 in the Video Age" put out by Broadsky and Treadway has a very detailed and excellent instruction for making perfect splices with the Wurker splicer. I'd recommend all who are working in this format to buy a copy for its tremendous information on S-8mm film making.

Re: Wurker super 8 splicer
I tried to download the manual for the Wurker Super 8 splicer, without success.
Could someone pleae tell me how to do it.
I tried with Firerfox and with FileZilla.
FileZilla seemed to require port information, which I did not know.
