Processing Neg. stocks

Post by gurra83 »

Im reading from Andecs price list that they charge 12 EUR for 1 cart of negative stock. It says that this is only on special request and that you must specifie. Othervise you will get the Development incl. preparation for Telecine (join, ultrasonic cleaning, reel / can) wich they charge 22,50 for.

Im not sure im willing to pay 22.50 for developing one cart. :?

Is this really needed?

Im thinking about trying out som neg. stocks this summer namely.

Will they also charge me for shipping back to Sweden??

And if so, how much...hell maybe i should just e-mail ém

I don´t remember what they charge for shipping, email them and ask.

If you do not order the preparation for telecine they will not be clean and you will have a lot of white dust at the beginning and the end of the reel (or so I have heard).

if you're doing a "pro" telecine at let's say filmteknik, you'll earn the extra euros back in no time if the reels are joined already. you can do it yourself but that will introduce even more dust which i can assure you will be visible unless you clean it. if i only did one roll as a test however i would definitely not order the cleaning.

Sure ! Join reels together and had lot's of leader on beginning and end of the roll. Giving it to telecine prior doing that to avoid dust and stuff won't be a good solution cause the colorist won't do it better than you. Better do it yourself in a clean, humidifacated area like your shower (dust free).

Of course you'll want to wipe the water spots off your film before you wind it up in the shower...

yes, but even best is to let the lab do it.

Sure, I meant better DIY than letting telecine guys do it. Anyway, It's for shure better to give it to a proper ultrasonic cleaner equipped service.
There's one in Paris called Laboratoire Daems. They do great job with Super8.
