Yes, the bass & guitar guys. Great instruments, crappy service.
I may sound stupid, but I hide it well.

Thinking of customer service I've praised Foma Bohemia in these pages before.
But recently I had need to contact Castle Acoustics. My main stereo loudspeakers were once upon a time based on a pair of 1979 vintage Castle Kendal II speakers...though these days only the enclosure and the tweeters are Castle the bass units, crossovers and cabling I changed in the late 80's.
Anyway one of said tweeters is failing, so I contacted Castle to see about a replacement. I got a reply that Castle went out of business in December but the business has been bought by another company. Although they are not currently offering any Castle products or spares (methinks they've bought the *name*) they did tell me of another company where I can obtain spare parts.
That's good. And gives me a positive impression of the new owners.

The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter

My partner was trying to get some info about his Mitchell camera and how to modify it for a video tape or something like that. The cam had a phone number on it so he tried calling it and behold, somebody answered it. The company was bought by Arriflex and they couldn't work on Mitchell stuff so they gave my partner the phone number for somebody who worked there 20 years ago. He called that number where a distinctly German old man answered. He was THE person who modified THAT camera to a mirrored reflex viewfinder and remembers modifying that particular camera. He was all to happy to answere my partner's questions. Now that's customer service when a company that doesn't even deal with your equipment anymore gives you support on it.

Some years ago I had cause to email Kodak's UK offices in Hemel Hempstead about a super 8 related question, I think it was about a projector they made back in teh 60's.
To their credit, the people at Big K said they'd contacted people who used to work in the cine factory and who had only recently retired (or were still in the company)...and although they weren't able to help they did pass on some names for me to follow up.
