I agree.
5-inch discs will be around for another 20 years, at least. The staying power of this media is self-evident.
For those of you who believe that discs will go away, consider the simple example of paper. The information age was supposed to do away with paper. We now kill more trees for paper than ever in the past.
Humans need to possess things - physical objects. Ephemeral data is nice in concept, but humans need to touch things. Servers crash, hard disks fail, etc. But if you own a disc, you will always be able to find a way to play it.
HD DVD is dead.

I agree, but maybe we're just dinosaurs.
It's funny-- the big adopters of downloading versus CDs have been women, not men-- at least in my experience. Men seem to have more of a need to collect things-- most women I know have no problem keeping everything in that little ipod. So maybe it's more of a guy thing-- (but then, why is Sephora always packed with women...? :? )
