Re: The International Film Cooperative
Frankly, the only person coming off with an "attitude" is you. I don't think there is a person that has responded that thought your idea was stupid or that you did not have good intentions but your reactions are mystifying in the face of what you asked. Let me remind you of what you actually posted originally:supermag400_inventor wrote:Questions...not a problem. I would expect questions. Not the attitudes.
You proposed an idea and asked people to respond to that idea on this forum. That's what they did. What's the problem?supermag400_inventor wrote:Here is an idea I propose to all of you film makers out there......If you think this is something you would put effort into doing, let me know through this forum or by e-mail.

Roger...Said like the wise man that you are. We don't see eye to eye all the time but you are spot on my friend.
S8MagInventor---You thought you could make this slitter for $5000 and that just wasn't going to happen. I too think that the idea is great on paper but in the end it just doesn't add up.
Good Luck
PS--I vote that the club house be painted green.

Forums are about exchanging ideas. Forums are about testing out ideas. Every time I post one of my ideas I hope someone will make a compelling case arguing why my idea might be flawed. It gives me something to think about. It gives me the opportunity to correct my poor judgement before moving ahead with an illfated plan. It's the democratic process. Democracy was born and lives on in forums. If you think we are nay-saying, get specific. Defend your ideas!!! Then we might all learn something new or come up with a creative solution. I sincerely mean no disrespect and I'm not on an ego-trip, but when I hear a voice of reason (Roger in this case) I'm going to chime-in and say something. I think Roger gave you some damn good feedback and frankly I think you should thank him for that.
That said, I think what you are doing and what your propose to do is really interesting and innovative. Good luck with your projects.
In solidarity,
Steve

Don't take it so personally... if you step back and read the thread, noone's having a go at you, just pointing out some things which would be a problem to be overcome if you were to carry out such a plan. It's easy for people to be dimissive on the internet, but you needn't read too much into it + get upset... (in the same way, I'm reading into your capital letters a much more angry/upset tone than you probably actually intended...supermag400_inventor wrote:FORGET I BROUGHT IT UP!

For every American, we have a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. At least, we are supposed to have. The difference is astounding.

No offense Steve, I get what you were saying, but I have a pet peave about the use of the word "democracy". The actual democratic process is literally mob rule. Everyone votes and the man/idea/decision with the most votes wins. We are not deciding here on the attributes or possible success of Supermag400_inventor's ideas. We are just sounding off here on this forum for anyone's consideration or not. 8)It's the democratic process. Democracy was born and lives on in forums.

Or as Ben Franklin (supposedly) said (paraphrased): "A Republic IF you can keep it."David M. Leugers wrote: For every American, we have a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. At least, we are supposed to have. The difference is astounding.
I think we're doing a terrible job of keeping it lately. Every Supreme Court decision is 5-4 and every Senate battle 52-48 or somesuch, right along party lines. And all they tell us is, "UP OR DOWN VOTE!" Forget the fact that we established procedural rules, committees, reports, etc. to ensure that each seat of government had something besides mob rule to guide it...
The predominant message from positions of power is that democracy equals mob rule, most votes wins. Sad...
