why? she's just an actress. :-) seriously i'm rather gentle and supportive when dealing with actors. i don't quite believe in the bergman style, even though it seems to work for him. not only are many his films great, he gets to sleep with all the leads too. :-)

short teaser, directly from the editing room. i don't have internet rights to the music, and it's far from an official teaser, so the clip is strictly confidential outside this board, please.

thanks, i'll tell them. the expression stock really helped the lighting too. you can let things go completely dark without losing depth, and you can light to a much higher contrast and still get soft shadows, and you can fill the frame with colors and different light temperatures and it will just look great and not cluttered and saturated. we planned on using pro mists for the entire film until we tried this stock and it solved everything.

If I had super 35 come back looking like this, I'd arson the transfer house, beat up my DOP, and take a sledge hammer to the camera.

By the way, you look like a dork in your avatar.

I thought it looked great. And Santo is was Super16, not super 35.

I did see a few dirt specs, so maybe they should clean it a little better in transfer.

so you can judge the quality of the transfer house, the DoP and the camera from a quater frame heavily compressed quicktime clip but not recognise that is it is super16? i'm impressed :)

Well, to be fair to Santo, I'm sure he's just guessing. As mere mortals, we really have no opinion of any value because we have been recently taught that tiny web based clips are too small to make any real judgements, positive or negative. And even if we did have an opinion, it would have to be cleared by the front office, first. So, instead of giving my opinion, I'll just wait until I'm told what to think of it so I won't get my ass chewed out.

I didn't say it wasn't super16.

Look, I'm trying to pick a fight here with Mattais. I even told him he looked like a dork in his avatar. Come on, where are you? Let's get in a tussle.

I too noticed the dirt right away. I let the first speck slide but then when I saw it multiple times I thought that it was dirty. So I would beat up the loader but that is as far as the beating should go.

Lighting....That is what makes cinematography an Art. So, it is up to each of us to like it or not. Therefore--No Comment.

All in all I think that anytime someone goes out and works their ass off for something they love and believe in they need to be recognized. Then let the lashing begin...

Good Luck

Thanks for the kind words  I am working on an improvement that will make my datacine setup all contained within the Bolex projector housing without any external parts. I will post a picture when I get it all working.

Regards,
Paul Cotto

very funny, but it won't work. it's too obvious. besides we all know it looks great, so it wouldn't have worked even if it had been more clever. only truth hurts. and wouldn't it be christoph and sunrise you should pick a fight with if you want to mirror me or something? they're the ones who stated an opinion about the clip? anyway i'm amazed by your persistence. have a beer, get a good night's sleep or something.

as for the dust, i know. it's at the very beginning and end of every "telecine roll", not camera roll, so it must come from the scanner (which i personally witnessed him clean with tape and stuff at every reel change so it's still a little strange). i'm guessing the producers didn't want to pay for lubing and cleaning at the lab or something, i wasn't involved in that. i'm sure they understand that it will have to be cleaned before striking any prints though. :-) and i have a few ideas on how to remove it from the video master too. so thanks for pointing it out, but don't worry. :-)
