And here the rest of the projector is starting to evolve, from the inside out (unlike a graphic designer who might work from the outside in).

Having two motor drives allows the film to be played backwards or forwards. When one is going the the other is disengaged (both capstan and motor).

For feed and takeup I'm thinking of a coaxial design, where there will need to be some additional rollers to guide the film to their respective reels.

Easy to load up the film. No complicated mechanics. Computer controlled.


And yes, this is only a design. Or just "talk" as some might say. Or a "wet dream" as some action figurines, already kitted up with their ready-made machines, are want to argue. But talk is a way of testing ideas before actually putting them into practice. Talk is cheap - which is precisely why it's good. It doesn't cost anything. One can throw around ideas and get feedback. Get critical reactions (in support or against). Get new ideas. If and when an idea has matured it then becomes something that can be put into practice, in a matter of days, very cheaply <-- the main reason for talking in the first place.
