Yes, thats the plan. Assuming it runs I will drop a hundred on it to make it moderately usable. Evan offered me a view lense. That would be a good place to start, I think.

I shot news and sports with one of those things for years. They're built like tanks and can double as a weapon should you find yourself in a sticky situation. That was my first 16mm camera.\

I've always been curious if those things can be converted to reflex the way their 35 mm big brothers can.

That's good to know. I will need to attack a strap to get the proper club action!!!

A few minutes ago I downloaded and just read the DL manual that Freya and Afwasborstel pointed me to. Now, Im wondering what yall are using for oil these days since it specifies Bell and Howell oil. Will any light machine oil like 3 in 1 work or will I need to go to something lighter like sewing machine oil????

I seem to recall that the proper oil is 10 weight. (and no, 10W-30 engine oil is no good). Electric motor oil seems a good lube for the Filmos. I have used it for a number of years on both Filmos and Auricons. The can I have I bought at Sears. Good luck with your Filmo!

I fed it sewing machine oil but apparently theres something called watch oil that is even better. I wouldn't use 3 in 1 when sewing machine oil is readily available.

If you open one up, you'll see that it doesn't really care what oil you put in ;) I used a good amount of regular machine oil (3 in 1) and it runs noticeably quieter/smoother. Obviously don't use motor oil or cooking oil. Anything else is probably ok.

Great, thanks for the oil advice. The books says once a month or every five or six rolls and to pop the cap off with a pocket knife or a screw driver blade. I guess Ill understand that once I get the camera.

There are a couple oil ports in the film chamber also. Look for "OIL HERE."

Thanks for the tip. And you have to love a camera that says, "OIL HERE" and has "pry open with a pocket knife" in the manual.

Why do you need a Bayo:C-Mt adaptor?? If the zoom is C-Mt then shouldn't you just be able to screw it on??

Good Luck
The problem is a small bolt that attaches the lens turret to the body of the camera. The ang 17-68 (mine at least) has low clearance when it comes to c-mounting the lens past the protruding bolt. The work-around mod requires an adaptor and a modification of the lens to bayo.... I wonder if I will still be able to use this lens on the Ikonoskop?

:D Looking at something like this reminds me of the wonderful simplicity of clockwork cameras..
