those cams are way simpler that the 1014 santo.

they should be and are.

neither aaton or arriflex would stand a chance vs canon in FCE & TQM engineering at the time when the 1014 was developed and even with your lack of engineering and technology knowledge your should know that there are no need for it in 16 & 35mm cams.

other demands apply.

seen any arris or aatons run for 35+ years without proper maintanance n handling & storage?

be my guest santo.

Yes, that is what I thought, but I read another of this S8 Booster's posts and it became another puzzle. Read it for yourself, and you will see that he believes it is more technically advanced than any MotionPicture camera of any gauge that has ever been made! Is it a joke? Is he serious and quite mad? I am left completely baffled again!

Please point out one camera in 16 or 35 that can do lap dissolves...until then, the 1014XLS combined with its lens technology is the winner.

From the mouths of babes...

But lap dissolves are no great shakes. Any old Filmo or Bolex can do that, you just have to wind it back manually.

after all theyre nothing more than simple 60s slr design running at a somewhat higher frame rate - and that is al they need to be.

thats the difference - youll never understand - anyway so this is wasted time as usual.

Err, Super8 Man, who´s that woman in your avatar? 8O

There´s a camera from the ´50s that I like so much: the Pathe Webo 16mm and 9.5mm. It´s an old design, and is not the best 16 mm camera ever made, but I would like to get one, better if is the 9.5 mm version. :)

And the Pathe AT/BTL, the more recent version of the Webo. Now that is a beautiful and functional machine. Those French sure got style...

All this time I was thinking If is more easy to perforate 9.5 mm film (due the bigger sizes of the central holes) than Super 8 film.

This old format produces a strong fascination on me.

if we include 16mm cameras the arri s of course the winner. there was never will never be a camera that looks as much as a movie camera. not even the mickey mouse bell and howells. just looking at an arri s makes you feel like a filmmaker and holding it in your hand almost makes you cry. ;-)

It was a toss up between this:

That's the great thing about real life...its better than fiction. Hence, HOME MOVIES RULE, fictional movies sometimes suck...wasted my time watching THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW - what a complete and utter crock of $hit and most useless movie ever done...

The Beaulieu 4008zm2 is the best looking cam that i own no question... but mine has on of those external battery packs... so you have a cable going to a pack which sits in your pocket. The pack is ok if you are on stix, but hand held is a pain in the ass. The only negative i have about the Bzm2 is holding it. i mean its a beautiful camera and gives ace results ... but the viewfinder is way too dull and small and holding is not the best...

My 814xl-s on the other hand... is what got my vote... i just love using this camera... looking at the cam and holding it.

I did a E64t test last week with my Bzm2 and when i done the second half of the film in the 814xl-s thats when you see the differnce through the viewfinder... big and bright and great auto exposure results everytime.

Every switch, dial and button has a good tight solid click as you work through the features... the Bzm2 is a fiddle and you gotta take your time everytime (but i suppose that is what makes the Beaulieu special)... every camera has their own special needs and you know yourself which one to pull out the bag at the right time.

Anyhoo.. as you may have guessed... 814xl-s got my vote.

But I love watching tidal waves, real or CGI. As long as I don't have to see one live. My father once saw a rogue wave on Lake Eire, 30' high, splashed fish into the trees over his head.

Ah, when it come to StarWars phaser style cameras, I have to vote for the Agfa Movexoom 4000!

This has been our family workhorse for the past thirty years :D Sad to say it has a sharp but slow 2.5 6-60 lens...

Otherwise I'd probably vote for the "Ferrari" amongst S8 cameras, the Beaulieu 4008.

Since I don't own a super 8 camera I will have to vote on reg 8mm.
My 2 favorite cameras that I use would be my Bolex B8 and Bolex S-1.
the S-1 while not popular produces great reg 8mm footage, and it's easy to use with a good feel to it. The B8 is also a great camera for filming small compact and winds like a swiss made camera should. My other camera I like that i own for design would be my Bell & Howell one nine the compact size and good looks make it a nice camera. And Bolex and B&H's are built like tanks further adding to their appeal and quality.
