I'd like to reiterate, Andreas, that I still owe you money for the second timelapse project because I forgot to put my money order in with my film. I need to pay you for the transfer, return shipping, and also for a video tape for the final project. Although can you get NTSC video tape?
Regards.

FILM IS FOREVER
I think it looks great. I'm excited to see it finished. So that was philip glass?
my stuff had a weird magenta cast in the transfer. The sky and clouds look pink. I know Andreas didn't do a color correction for everyone's films, but some colors are off. Will someone do some color correction for the scenes that need it?

What you saw was a workprint, Ralph. The final version is colour corrected.

Nice joke Paul!paul wrote:Jee man! I have seen the 2003 project and it was really great, some footage was really impressive. And Philip Glass did a good job on the soundtrack!

OK, I know Philip and some of his music, but if you mean these soundscapes at the beginning of that movie, of course I did them by myself with my synths (basically with analog module synth-model from my Pulsar). These ones are composed only for this project, these normal songs (part of them) you'll hear I have composed for my band Sorb-i-tol. Anyway I have played all instruments myself, vocals by Lotta Rytkonen. More music from Sorb-I-Tol you can listen from this site:
http://www.mikseri.net/sorb-i-tol
(That site is written in Finnish, just click the songs link to load them)
EDIT: that mikseri.net link seems to be right now totally dead (they have about 1000 members online all time, so sometimes you cannot open it, too much traffic).

We have in Finland same kind of thing called Teosto (I belive, it's member of ncb), but I'm not their member, so these songs aren't registered. If i'd be a member of Teosto, every time I want to use my own music for example in my short films, I need to pay them 50-100 euro to use it.mattias wrote:i'm curious, are the songs registered with ncb (nordic copyright bureau) or similar? in that case i'm sure you know there's a fee for every copy being made, even if you as the author give your permission.jukkasil wrote:I have composed for my band Sorb-i-tol.

Ok, I'd get my money back later, but for amateur like me it would be pain in ass. I have made my decision over 15 years ago not to join Teosto and it has been good decision, even I have lost couple bucks, but I have totally freedom to control my own doings.
All songs in time lapse project is unregistered stuff. Also if someone of you want to use my music in your short film (or want to me compose new one), just send message to me to discuss that case more.

are you sure about that? ncb changed the rules a few years ago, at least in sweden, so that you can negotiate whatever fee you like (for example zero) with the author and then just send them your contract. you still have to pay for every copy you make though, there's no way around that.jukkasil wrote:every time I want to use my own music for example in my short films, I need to pay them 50-100 euro to use it.

Unfortunately with our national organisation (= Teosto), this is the real situtiation here also in year 2005. We have a lot of discussion about that case here in Finland especially between amateur music makers and I really hope Teosto will change their rules soon more to normal EU-style (nowadays their rules are more like from 1970 Finland). For good selling artists is't a good thing, but not for others. Their policy really sucks, they want fees from local radiostations and then they decided they'll also charge same fees from taxi drivers, who plays radio channels in their cars!mattias wrote:are you sure about that? ncb changed the rules a few years ago, at least in sweden, so that you can negotiate whatever fee you like (for example zero) with the author and then just send them your contract. you still have to pay for every copy you make though, there's no way around that.jukkasil wrote:every time I want to use my own music for example in my short films, I need to pay them 50-100 euro to use it.

Finnish parliament fortunately stopped this doublecharge.

that is of course ridiculous, but what if the same drivers played cd's in their cars? in my opinion they should need a license for that since they're using it to create an atmosphere that they're selling to someone. stores and cafés have to pay, so why not cab drivers?jukkasil wrote:charge same fees from taxi drivers, who plays radio channels in their cars!
