Francis?

Actually, I don't really need a D-mount adaptor after my Bolex was ruined in Hurricane Francis. I did get an M42 to C mount adaptor off of ebay for my 16mm's now tho.
Apparently Hurricane Francis didn't like your Bolex b/c he thought Double Super 8 was the best! ;)

Just add some to the (in)sanity: Quarz with the PANA 1.5-2x ANAM

Very very nice. Is this a variable anamorphic lens?
Yes - it is the PANA 1.5x-2x variable.

FILM-THURSO wrote:Nice set up S8 Booster but you'll get a wider Anamorphic view if you put the Quarz zoom lens back on and fit a Kowa 2x Anamorphic for Bell & Howell zooming to about 17mm.
Not sure I wil gain too much. I have that one too.

Not sure if it is a fit but have a look:

I guess I could find an image taken in 35mm still with this 8mm lens and crop it in photoshop to find out, but I don't know if I'll find one on the net. Have you done any tests?

I wish you luck on a very cool set-up.
I am actually going for a rectilinear view, not the distorted one - I think that is what you meant. I ordered R8 rolls from John Schwind couple of days ago. I am hoping to have shot a roll by next week then have it sent to Kodak.
For a photo example, try this:

Lunar07 wrote:Yes that is the one. You have to keep a close watch on eBay and ask questions. The one I have was a part of a collection of Bolex 8mm accessories and the adapter was one of them. I'd like to get two more of these.
One month ago, there was another one on eBay - it was screwed into a Taylor Hobson C-mount Serital lens. Downix, of this forum, showed a past interest in this adpater. So like a fool I sent him a message to go for it. The guy never acknowledged my message and never bought the adapter. Big guy Downix - geeeeeeeeeeez
They are apt to appear sooner or later on eBay hidden in a heap of junk.
But let me tell you - a Sigma slr 8mm lens on a B8 LOOOOOOOOOL it looks so funny - a sort of a monstrosity - like an insect with a huge eye. And the fact that you can buy a truckload of B8's for one Sigma 8mm.

I'd have LOVED to get the SLR Nikon 8mm lens - but hey, I need to pay my rent for the next 4-5 months

Seriously now, I'm focusing on getting an SLR 15-35 zoom if they exist and attach a 1.5X anamorphot to it. Now that could be PERFEEEECT for a Bolex 8mm camera.
Lunar,
The only problem I see with using the Bagom/c-adapter/35mm lens with a long focul length, especially with a camera like the C 8, is that you don't have the adjustment in the viewfinder objective for focal lengths that great. And as the focal length increases, your accuracy for finding your subject is more crucial. Also, on cameras like that the viewfinder objective is already one with paralax. so that is yet another error to factor in. I know that Bolex made a paralax correction accessory for the little pocket Bolex cameras like the C 8 but did they offer any add on for significantly longer focal lengths?

The B8 and D8 view finder covers focal lengths in the range of 12mm to 35mm or 50 mm. And goes down to 5.5mm with the accessory attachment. This is the SLR range I am using. So that is no problem.
Even the view finder of the D8 is framed to give you a view of up to 35mm even when the finder is set to 12.5mm.

Parallax is only an issue with very close subjects. Do not forget that most cameras were not reflex cameras quite a while ago. A reflex camera is more of a luxury actually since parallax does not play a significant part except when dealing with closeups.
so that is yet another error to factor in.
The error as I mention above plays a significant part only when dealing with very close subjects.

As I mention above, the SLR range I am using is the same as that used by 8mm cameras (8-50).
Bolex made a parallax correction accessory (Proxirect for LA models only) that adjusts for parallax at ALL focal lengths. They also made parallax attachments for CLOSEUP work. All these should work fine with the SLR range of lenses I am talking about. although as I mention, parallax can be safely discarded unless one is dealing with a closeup situation.
