You will have to notch the cartridge yourself (very easy) if you want to make use of the built in 85 filter. Otherwise it is totally disabled (Tungsten position) whatever position you use on the filter setting slider.

It is easy to localise the filter lever in the cartridge compartment.
For a reference you can also examine the carts shown above.

2 more cams affected.

Post by S8 Booster »

Just adding 2 more cams that are affected by ths error (in addition to the 1014 & 814 XL-S):

Cameras confirmed affected by this error: (UPDATED)
- Canon 1014/814 XL-S
- Canon 514 XL-S
- Elmo 1012/812 S-XL (I guess the 812 too which is basically the same cam as the 1012)
- Sankyo 420 XL Supertronic

Cameras that I can confirm are NOT affected by this error (If original)
- Beaulieu 5008 MS

the 814 XL-S and if I remember correctly the 1014 XL-S has a manual switch for the filter located by the handle.

You just need to remember to turn it on.

This is correct but this function is automatically disabled when the incorrect notched V200T cartridge is inserted. The V500T from P8 is correctly notched though.

As far as I know this filter removement notch (no notch actually) was a precautionary function added to many cams thus preparing them automatically for daylight balanced films.

Check: http://lavender.fortunecity.com/lavende ... tspec.html

IF you look at this table under "Filter Notch" you will find that some of the film carts automatically and totally removes the 85 filter and disables the cam´s filter selector function.

When the filter notch says "NO"in this table the film carts are balanced for daylight only (or in the first place unless an external filter for this film (different from the 85 filter) is attached to the lens front) and the 85 filter is totally disabled.

From this the V200T carts are incorrectly notched as they totally disables the 85 filter selector.

Kodak V200T carts = PRO8 V200T carts.

Post by S8 Booster »

During my test shoot I found out (99.99% sure) that the Kodak V200T and PRO8 v200T are exactly the same (re-labeled) Kodak cart.

Why?

When the cart is finished the word "exposed" appears on both the Kodak and the PRO8 cart but on all other PRO8 carts "the end" is totally different from the Kodak carts as there are no "exposed" printed and the END "slot" in the film are totally different too.

This is the reason why I am quite certain that the PRO8mm VT200 carts are re-labelled Kodak carts, thus having the same error.
