Re: Perry Movie Transfers
Just getting back to the mac with pc harddrives discussion-we use paragon - is a $20 or somthing programme that allows copying of large files ( over 4gb) to and from windows formated drives on a mac- we are using a win ntfs drive 2tb thunderbolt drive to capture uncompressed from the universal in bootcamp on a 2011 imac then rebooting back into mac os to edit- works fine and no footage transferring time needed

Re: Perry Movie Transfers
I remember my first scans from a Shadow scanner, the little brother of the former king of the hill Spirit. Everyone told me that it wasn't REALLY HD QUALITY because the sensor was something like 720p and it interpolated to get to 1080p. But because the colorist was so amazing it was some of the best film scans I ever received. In this case "best" is completely subjective but I'll take an average scanner with an above average colorist ANY DAY over an top-of-the-line scanner and me trying to color it.

I'll consider doing the 2K upgrade for marketing reasons, if the cost makes sense. It's not as simple as just upgrading the camera. I spent a good chunk of the 2000's just making the jump from SD to HD. My current PC capture/edit system is 6 years old now, it's perfect for HD workflows, possibly 2K. Once I start getting into 2K and 4K video, that means a whole new system, moniter and who knows what else. I can't swap components in my PC anymore without replacing just about everything. The delivery option is not very supportive of 2K or 4K right now. My highest workflow now is too much for Vimeo or You-tube. I have a Bluray burner, player, and 1080P TV... more things I will have to replace to see my investment in all it's glory. The real question is, Do the costs out way the benifits? My answer is a big fat no. Not until all the 2K/4K tech gets a lot cheaper and more user friendly.
