My struggles with Tri-x + permanganate + Kodak times might be of use. Am wondering how it would work with Foma r100.

That is classic inadequate bleaching. The permangenate bleach is more awkward to use. Unlike P. dichromate bleach, it only has a short life. Foma R100 is more likely to have bleaching problems than tri-x because it has a silver anti halation backing that also needs to be bleached off. So, if you got those results with Tri-x from a particular bleach, then you would have gotten the same or worse results with Fomapan.

What I been trying to say all along the foma Bleach is not that good for tri X > way better to make your own, With the hard to find dichromate bleach ,

Yeah, I've been trying to get dichromate, but unfortunately, I'm stuck with ONE CASE of Kodak permanganate bleach (two jars each of Part A and B) as dichromate is banned at my workplace, and controlled by Big Brother.

Any heads-up on this? Fomapan b/w cine film is now suddenly off the shelves - I had no idea there was a problem - this came swifter than the demise of reversal colour film. So I am looking with desperation at some Tri-X but my only choice for home processing is the Foma kit - unless that has gone west as well? Am sure I used Foma with Tri-X in the remote past but that was aeons ago. Any tips please?

I developed a cartridge of Tri X with the Foma kit. It came out fine. I followed the Foma instructions regarding the timing of each process. Are you sure that Foma have stopped production of film or is it just a hiatus?

Thanks, it was indeed a hiatus - within 12 hours I had an order on the way from Silverprint but it was such a panic here that i'll believe the film when I see (load) it ;)
