For me it would be very helpful just if I can send you 30m 35mm film and you have just to splice it to 8mm and one 16mm and then perforate it. I fix the rest in my darkroom.

It's a sewing machine where I replace the needle and bobin plate with my own cnc made parts. Going to have an adjustable registration pin so when I do polyester based film I can have slightly wider spacing. Polyester based film is known to shrink after a few years incase you didn't know. Only plan on building one sprocket hole punch so am going to do multiple passes to get the job done.
I believe film perforators need to punch at least four frames at once and perhaps as many as eight at once to obtain acceptable registration. Somehow I don't think punching out one sprocket hole at a time would work properly.

Freddenacka, I would be willing to do that when it's finished.

Bolextech, I had the belief that doing one at a time gives the best registration. I'm sorry I can't remember the source where I got this from. But I think doing 4 to 8 at a time like that is just a way to go faster while sacrificing accuracy, then they make up for it by building a higher precision machine. Not 100% sure though, I'll try to find the place I got that from and send you the link.

In the US you can buy very expensive E100D and some 100-125ASA B&W stuff. I'm finding that 100D is actually a little too fast for bright outdoor shooting. Common film stocks back in the day were in the ASA 12-40 range. Realistically, that means you should make some 50ASA color 8mm from Kodak if they still make it. I would definitely buy some color reversal 50ASA film if it was available.

Kodachrome is dead and gone, nobody has the chemistry to process it.

I guess I'm missing something, because shouldn't you be able to make 2 16mm strips from 35mm film stock? And therefore 2 double 8mm strips?
I don't think you can get E100D fresh in any format anymore. Glad you would buy the 50 asa stuff. I'll let you know if I do it!

The reason you can't make two 16mm strips out of 35mm is because the 35mm has sprocket holes on each side of it. So the 35mm sprocket holes have to get cut off and go to waste. Unless you can get kodak to sell you one without the 35mm sprocket holes, might be very difficult to find the right guy to talk to about doing that but would be great if I could.
I got some Wittnerchrome 100D regular 8mm which I have to imagine is just rebranded Ektachrome 100D. It is E6 process. Is this just old stock? John Schwind is not selling any more Cinechrome only one kind of B&W. Maybe I picked to wrong time to get an 8mm camera if I'm about to have no source of color reversal film...

Freddenacka and Kontrabass888, I want the low speed stuff too but just what do you suggest? I'll probably be able to do a strip of super 8 you won't have to split.
I remember that agfa had a 50 asa daylight reversal film called RSXII 50, I have been using this film for more than 10 years for 35mm still photography. I guess it is probably the UT18 of kahl.de.

When I started filmmaking in 1964....At a local discount store, frequent sales offered 2 rolls of double 8mm film ...Mirachrome brand (which looked as good as Kodachrome if not better). 2 rolls for $3.00 and that included processing and return shipping. Inflation adjusted for 2014.....$23. Thats the kind of film I would like to see ...film you can spend on without guilt.

I wouldn't. It was a wish. I guess I'd wish for Dwaynes to start processing it again too.

If you have double perf acetate base 16mm film , you can get this reperfed to Double 8 by a chap in London, Ed Nowill. He has reperfing equipment set up in his workshop. He also sells Double 8 stocks on 25ft daylight spools. PM me for his contact details if interested.

Wittner is trying to unload some slitting equipment he doesn't use.

Unfortunately not much in perforating equipment.

I have to say that Fujichrome R25 is the best film I've seen projected! The colors from my little P2 were amazing! And of course no jitter!

I just got my two 100' roll of Double 8 kahl UT21 back from the lab.
I am sure the original source is kodak 7285(ektachrome 100D) after I saw the result of the projection.
now, I am planning to order 16mm ut18 stock from kahl ,but I can't find any video online to show the result. is there anyone had used this stock? I would like to make sure that the perforate work is correct with this film before I order it.
