I see D8 cams in pawn shops sometimes. I've seen MiniDV cams there too, but none that I'd trust. I guess it's better than Ebay though.

I never will understand why an affordable mini-DV deck built to install in a computer for editing was never available. DV cameras got so cheap and small, can't believe it is not feasible.

It IS weird. I had gotten a consumer camcorder just for dumping tapes to computer, but the transport went South. I got a replacement for it, but then it got the same problem. I certainly couldn't justify getting another semi-pro cam just for dumping tapes.
