I think you are comparing negative processing costs againsy reversal costs. Their prices are up on monday. I wish they could offer student pricing and run it through Wal-Mart so we can make sure the film doesnt get x rayed and we save the shipping costs. I know if Wal-Mart Canada gets 100 calls about it they will investigate it make it likely to happen.winbert wrote:I have just visited Niagara website. It charges $20 for processing a cartridge (or $16 for student).
Even the student price is still more expensive compared to Dwayne ($12) or even Dwayne via Wal-Mart ($8).
I live in Toronto, I wish Canadian lab can reach what the Americans pay for the same matter, especially nowadays C$ is stronger than US$.....

You should contact FUJI because Fuji has the WALMART film processing contract. If FUJI handle's photo services for Walmart in Canada then there might be hope.

How do you know that Wal-mart Canada wouldn't put all the film going to Dwaynes through a Soviet era X-ray machine when it crosses the border?ECNtoo wrote:[through Wal-Mart so we can make sure the film doesnt get x rayed and we save the shipping costs. I know if Wal-Mart Canada gets 100 calls
That x-ray thing is pretty overrated. Ship it surface mail if you're worried but I've shipped thousands of feet over the years between the U.S., Canada and the old Swiss Kodachrome lab with no x-ray problems. I could only wish that I'd get some x-ray damage so I could have something to blame for all of my soft focus shots and blown exposures
But if you really want to save buy a Lomo tank and start processing it yourself, the hardest part is getting set up. However, calling the Fuji number does sound like a good first step.

Re: reversal processing in Canada
for the 1000th time: letters and small parcels are not routinely x-ray-ed.
It is a myth.
Any idea how many people would be required and how much that would cost to watch all these images? Even when it were out-sourced to a low-wage location. The utter stupidity to think it possible.
Maybe the same detailed attention could be spent on monitoring all frames of your rolls
And still at $10 for processing.
And I suppose the massive gamma-raying (because of evil germs) was abandoned long ago. If it ever was implemented fully. BTW It didn't hurt film.
Also makes one wonder if there is an overlap of the groups of people who buy cameras at $500-1000 and have these overhauled regularly at $300-400 and the groups who are fighting over $10 or $14 for processing or a film.
Legend has it that copperwire was invented when two of these guys were fighting over a cent.
