Angus, I did my best to convince the guys at the Foma factory to do Fomapan R100 in Super 8 ... no luck; and the current situation with no supplier for the clear film base ... it looks like R100 is history.

That is only your assessment.

There is no need to drop a succesful product and Foma, in another field, even introduced Fomalux photographic paper. For that matter, at the photokina of last september I was given a few roils of Fomapan R8 and DS8 as a promotional stimulus. And some 10 pcs of sample packs of Foma papers. Really kind of them and they haven't lost the spirit. My guess is that they are the actual OEM manufacturer of Lodima (cloride photopaper)
Kind regards,

André

unfortunately, no, you are not right, this is not my assesment. That information came from Mr. Krejci, one of the sales people at Foma Bohemia.

Further to that, you cannot order R100 factory fresh from Foma, as it says "not availabe"

Of course, you don't have to belive me, I've got no problem with that whatsoever :) I only shared the info that I've got from Foma directly, no more, no less.

Spectra Film in Burbank, CA. They charge alot fot this service, and along with the filmstock cost, I did not profit. Until I can start loading these myself I sell them at $18 US.

And as asked earlier, have you got a US lab recommendation?

I use Yale Film and Video in Burbank, CA exclusively or Martin Baumgartin on the East Coast (Plattsburg Film Services) to process my Fomapan film with great results. In Europe, there are plenty of labs besides Wittner-kinotechnik.de that processes Fomapan reversal stock.

If Foma Bohemia cannot source a supply of the clear base necessary for manufacture of Fomapan R, then they have no choice.

I'd noticed the price of 8mm Fomapan R going up...and did wonder...

A lovely stock, and knowing Foma I bet they would re-introduce it if the base becomes available again.
The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter :)

Let's hope so. I can't find Fomapan R on the Foma web page under products any more. Kodak Tri-X is just to high speed and grainy to be used for double 8 cameras with the smallest f-stop of f/16. Even Fomapan on 100 ASA tends to get overexposed in bright sun light some times, I doubt that a film with twice the speed would work any better unless you can supply a proper filter for your camera.
