I have watched most of the episodes whenever it's on in this part of the world. The program is called "Lonely Planet" here,( have they change the name with the new series or just for the States?) nice and well made documentaries, the super 8 footage kind of added the spice to it. In one episode on Southern Spain which I recorded, there was a cutaway of the host holding a super 8 camera, I hit pause to check to see what camera it was and I am positive it's either a Canon 1014XL-S or 814XL-S. One small complaint though, they always make the footage looking very jerky and shakey,( that home movies effect), super 8 in the right hands don't look like that at all. The director must have done most of the S8 shooting. Would love to work on it too, even for free, I'll do camera and the editing. I have heard that they just finished shooting part of a episode here in Hong Kong, love to see what they have done and where they have been when it's on.tod8 wrote:anyone watch the show "Globetrekker"? it's usually on PBS here in the states. they always use a lot of S-8 footage interspersed with the regular footage. it's nice.

I bloody knew it! I was at a mates house and I only saw the start of the "i love 1999" program, that bit with footage of the britney spears lookalike standing in the street. I could of sworn that was super8! I was going to post about it and see if anyone else had noticed, obviously you guys did!Sonic Truth wrote:well.."i love 1999" was on last night, and in the credits it says Film cameraman: Alan Doyle, so its gotta be him!
the show was presented by the girl from the blair witch project, and this reminded me..what 16mm camera was in the film? is it an old Arri, or a cinema products, anybody know?
The camera in the blair witch project is cinema products CP-16. They offered the actual camera for sale ages ago I think, have a look at this link.

"built-in crystal-controlled DC motor drive system" aye? They didnt even bother to sync the sound in half the stuff! Only the bits with dialogue talking directly to the camera.
