Anyone tried processing 16mm through Walmart?

Agreed - in fact, these low end stores are selling 720P tvs as HD since it IS higher than SD tvs but the public will find that they are getting shorted when they compare their tvs with more technical friends with 1080P tvs. But then, ultimately, caveat emptor - the consumer has to take SOME responsibility for their choices. I just like having CHOICES.

As for 16mm, I would question the sanity of anyone dropping off their footage at a drugstore/department/box store. I mean, 16mm is 4-times more costly than 8mm in every respect so saving money on processing is not the way to go. That's like ask the local tow truck guy to deliver Porsches - you get what I mean...In other words, if you are not sending your 16mm film directly to the processing lab, perhaps you should consider shooting super 8...

You guys are so funny! I never meant for this thread to create such a firestorm.

Mike makes a good point, if I were really concerned with the quality of the process I should send my film directly to a trusted company. And if this was something important I would probably do it. But this is just 100' of 100D that I shot some test footage on so even if I never see it again it won't break my heart.

The experiment is this: I know for a fact that when I drop my Ektachrome 64T off at Sam's Club it goes to Dwayne's. So it stands to reason that my Ektachrome 100D will go to the same place. I wrote the exact same instructions on the envelope as I always do. The question is, will Dwayne's process it or send it back? And if they do process it, how much will it cost through Sam's Club?

We will know the answer in a couple weeks as I dropped the film off on Wednesday. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Now imagine waiting the 5-8 weeks for single 8 film to come back from Fuji!! Just when you give up on it, it arrives perfect in every way (a far superior filmstock to Kodachrome and Ektachrome).

Best of luck. I still plan to send my 16mm film direct to the labs...its just easier for me. I look forward to seeing if you make it through Sams with your 16mm film - that would be great.

I have been away from the board for about a year, nice to see nothing has changed. Still hashing out the great problems of capitalism. Last I checked, Cuba is still open, so is North Korea and China, I don't think there are any Wal-Marts there, you guys might consider reloacting . Just teasing, guys.

I'm lucky, we have 2 Super Wallys, 2 Super Targets, and 2 honest to gosh Ma and Pa camera shops in the area. They survive by not doing what Wal Mart does.

Anyway, I know people have sent 16mm Kodachrome through Wal-Mart. It got sent back.
