yes, I agree:

Yes, it does lack the sharpness of the Velvia on long shots. But you have an extra stop of speed and slightly lower contrast to work with.

Not to mention that most cameras are set up to work with a 100-speed daylight film, unlike E64T, which doesn't work on a lot on newer cameras.

It's also a little more forgiving of under and over exposure, at least to my eyes. The shots on my E64T are mostly underexposed because I got sick of using my camera's workarounds, and the shots got kind of grungy-looking. The stuff I did with E100D seemed to be somewhat underexposed, but the shot never went grungy; in fact, the saturation increased, unlike with the E64T.

so can we expect an answer from kodak as to whether they will start producing super8 100d carts themselves, or will they just keep saying "no plans...at this time" until they release it?

if they are going to when do you reckon the carts are likely to be out there? Q2 2008? 2009?

Don't hold your breath. Kodak will not produce 100D S8 unless there is a dramatic surge in DS8 100D. Kodak is looking at DS8 7285 sales as a guide to the demand for S8 7285. At this time Kodak is happy to let Spectra. Pro 8 and Wittner produce S8 7285 100D. So, if you want Kodak to produce S8 100D, shot 100D from the current sources. Kodak wants to see proof that there is demand for 100D S8.

Kodak needs to think about producing "Super 8 carts" before they start thinking about loading them with a new emulsion.
