you're right, Clutch it was. And thanks for naming the other one that had slipped my mind-- I couldn't remember what it was called.
Why aren't these ever shown any more? Too horrifying? It's kind of like the King and Odie, gone and forgotten.

For those who did poke around, and may have watched "How Audley", please note this version was streamed and transcoded from a VHS copy. All footage has recently been re-transfered and matched to the soundtrack.Rick Palidwor wrote:For those who have not checked Laurie's site or did not poke around much, a key internal link to the making of is http://www.madametutliputli.com/

We had meant to encode the new, soo much better looking version for the 'net, but ran up against the same kind of horrible banding visible in the currently posted version.
Madame Tutli Putli looks from the trailer to be heartrendingly beautiful. I remember seeing the poster they put up to cast it, "Do you look like this?", it said, whereupon I told Laurie she did, and convinced her to meet with the filmmakers. Thus, when it wins the Oscar for best animated short, I'll be fighting through security, drunk, naked and weeping to accept. Miss it at your own peril!

films on DVD. They seem unaware of the potential revenue they can make,
most of their DVDs are expensive and offer only a couple shorts. It'd be
great if they would work with a company like Criterion and put out a deluxe
set containing their dozens of oscar nominated and winning films all in one
package. Luckily YouTube is a great resource to find see NFB works.
BTW anyone having trouble viewing the trailer should try a different
browser. It worked in Firefox but not Safari on my system.

Write them a letter. They need to hear these things. There's a weird contradiction whereby the NFB is actually better-known outside of Canada than within (part of that strange Canadian complex of not recognizing your own) yet they don't make their work easily available outside of the country. And yet, at their head office in Toronto they have a "mediateque" where you can sit and watch almost anything they've ever made, for free (or a very small fee), and yet most people here don't take advantage of it.woods01 wrote:

I'd love to see 21-87 too, I am lucky enough to have seen the earlier (anddownix wrote:I know what you mean. I can't get a copy of 21-87 unless I go for an educational license. *groan*
oscar nominated) Very Nice, Very Nice. Arthur Lipsett is just one of
many NFB directors that deserve a dvd compilation. Norman Mclaren is
the only properly done NFB dvd release. There is a 7 disc box set of
all of his films that came out last year.
