8O
Gentlemen,I will answer your questions now!
Yes,I am past my sell by date at 56 years of age and have seen many changes in 8mm.Most for the better I must say
Camera Brands:
I would say that providing the purchase is or looks a good bet and can be proven,go for most top brand names-such as Fujica/Nizo and a host of others.
What did I finally purchase from ebay?
A KRASNAGORSK K3 16mm camera kit.As my Bolex H16 is now limited in certain applications,I thought I would treat myself.So I did!
I checked out the sellers background and he has a very high rating as is highly reccommended in his sellers history,so as I say,I went for it.As it takes a couple of weeks to go through,at the time of writing only four days have gone by so I wait with excited anticipation.
Have I forsaken S8?
Not bloomin' likely!! I have three models and my favourite is by beautiful Nizo Special .Then is the darling little Russian Quartz kit and finally an Elmo 230XL sound camera. So you see I really am international about product!
Why do I need both gauges?
I dont really.Just like using the larger format for good quality personal projects and the 8mm for holidays and visits etc.Maybe its just greed and that I can now afford what I wanted back in the fifties when I was but a young spotty lad.
Still have the odd spot though!!

I agree with most of the posted responses in this thread. The best lesson I have learned when buying ANYTHING on eBay is to read between the lines. If any questions come up I think it is extremely important to simply ask the seller BEFORE you bid on their item! 98.5% of the time they will respond wih an honest answer. If they don't. Well I would reconsider bidding on that item.
