Look in file / movie capture / settings / preferences / device control / edit / dv device control options, device model & brand.

Is your camera listed there?

I bought a Premiere from the same age as my camera and the cam is listed. Premiere works the camera for me nicely. When this area is not set to my camera, no capture is possible!

Hope this helps.
If it's not there one of the generic settings might work

Thanks for all the advice, We've just finished editing (two cam method). The finished product is a bit rough round the edges, but this being my first serious super8 project I'm quite pleased with the results.
I've been visiting here for quite a while. Your discussions have helped me a lot in getting started with the format. I hope to add to them in the future.

i won't say it's impossible, but i haven't heard any such stories and i'd say it's highly unlikely. dv and dvcam is the exact same data being sent over firewire, just a different tape format (same tape though), so if it plays it should capture.

Bob2099 wrote:The good news is we found a way around the problem by transfering the tape from one cam to another. Adobe seems to be able to capture the result of this.
from the first camera? that's very odd. what goes out through firewire is exactly the same whether you copy to a computer or another camera. or perhaps i misunderstood and you used the second camera, but if so can't you just use the first tape in that without copying?

Umm no, this was from the second to a hitherto unmentioned third cam. Then captured from the second.I guess we could have captured from the third cam directly, but why make things simple when you can make them complicated? It's still strange that with the same camera and the same capture settings, but this time using a copy, it did work. Boggles the mind.
