small format mag may exist in future

My super 8 dream trip would have to be to a parallel universe where video didn't kill film as a home format...where a significant proportion of people recognised the inherant qualities and fun in film...where human beings preferred quality over convenience.
In such a universe fresh meat, veg and fruit would naturally out-sell ready meals.

Japan is no different from the rest of the world, where video completely and utterly dominates film in the consumer market. If anything, Japanese are even quicker to adopt new technology than the rest of the world. Yes, quality carries more emphasis. However, I was unable to find a single photo store that carried single 8 or super 8 film within 200 miles of Himeji...

I gave the website to one of my friend Brian, he may be interested. I hope you will get as many subscriptions as you need and the magazine can survive.Juergen wrote:My dream trip would be North Korea. Maybe there are not only S8 films but also cameras made there? I've read all to posts then tried to subscribe...
.....do I just pay my 10euros by paypal and then that counts towards the subscriptions?
Or do I pay and have to then email to say I want to subscribe?
I'm lost... How do I subscribe and order my first issue?
What is the procedure?
Can anyone talk me thru this?

Chris, your only required to pay for the first issue right now. You can pay via Paypal for that. The subscription doesn't require payment at this time, simply because it may not even happen. Your only required to return the reply card which is in the first issue, or let juergen know you want to subscribe.

Please see http://www.smallformat.de - there it is possible to subscribe or to order the first issue. Subscription must not be paid before Feb 2006. We need another 119 subscribers to survive.

My point is it sends a confusing message to ask people to purchase the first issue if the magazine's future hinges on a certain number of subscriptions.
If 500 people were to suddenly order the first issue, that still does not help you reach your subscription goal.
I would really do a test of 100 to 200 of the 2000 people that you sent magazines to and send them a follow up postcard explaining what Small Format needs to survive.
If out of those 200 postcards you get 15 subscriptions, that would give you enough money to then send out the remaining 1800 postcards which would probably result in another 135 subscriptions and allow you to meet your goal AND even pay for the postcards.
If the 200 postcards net you less than 5 subscriptions then you can pretty much not worry about sending out the other 1800.

I dont know if this is your ebay id versandbuchhandlung
But if it is.. I paid for one copy on the 1st of November via paypal...have not received the copy...have not received any replies to my numerous emails...and am a little disgruntled and worried if this is how the subscription service will work. Does anyone here have a direct email for this ebay seller?
