Pics of the Nizo Sound Barney!

Post by konton »

Well currently this is the barney for the Nizo 6080 and similar models. It was made for me by Custom Upholstery Products. I'm trying to decide of the see-through material for the flap on the side is okay, or if I need the flap to be made out of sound proofing material. Please let me know what you think.

Very nice, how much did this cost you again? I remember you mentioning around $150 for the job. So how much sound does it cut? I'd imagine your camera is completely silent now. Are you still doing that deal where your having them make multiple? If I ordered one would they still need camera dimensions since they already made you one?

Did I say $150? When was that? Well no, now that the patten has been made you can get one for $100 + shipping. Before I needed a few people in order to get it made, but I think he's got three orders total and so making another would be easy. If you wanted something completely silent you'll need a blimp. But this cuts the noise down enough when shooting in a small quiet room with the shotgun mic pointed away from the camera.

Wonderfull... How much db do you guess it could stop ? Witch material is that & can we found some to buy for diy ? Would you guess it could work a bit with a 4008 ?

I'd be interested to know whether the barney makes any appreciable difference to the noise level of the (already quiet) 6080.

Also, as with any camera much of the noise will escape via the lens, which I note isn't baffled.

Looks like a neat bit of craftmanship, though.
