Ford UK use S8 and 35mm in TV Ad
Hi.
Having seen this advert over the last few weeks I did a search to confirm my thought that super8 was used.
Nice Quicktime copy to download.
Footage was used for a nice retro look and I must say that, for a change wasn`t made to look the usual crap way.

Well you don’t see commercials of the quality in the United States. I really love the crafty idea and the execution of Kodachrome in Super 8 and 35mm. The look is genuine the idea is well reflected and the union of the picture and sound is extremely well done. What is that song anyways?
Thanks for sharing now I have to go shoot some film I’m totally excited!

I look forward to the day when people start waving magnets around videotape to give it the "2000s" look.in addition, we added film scratches and dirt to bed the shots in and tracked a daisy into our heroine’s hair, so we maintained continuity from a previous shot.

ford spot
i know the director and the colorist,i think they have done much better work in the past...
a couple of the shots are probably bolex,as well...
these spots are paid for by ford dealers,so the budgets are tighter than a regular ford spot...

they seem to be dreaming about not being in a car. which makes sense, because if they were to show the reality - tediuous traffic jams, pollution, bascially wasting huge amouts of time & becoming a fat-ass when you could be getting some enjoyment & exercise etc, the ad probably wouldn't be that appealing.onsuper8 wrote:I'm still struggling with the link between "the summer of love" and driving a Ford!!!!!!!!! Those darn ad-men!
they have to use fantasy i think.. seen the ones where the roads are empty of traffic when you drive such a model of car? trading standards anyone?!
do car ads really work? i see them all the time. i sometimes like the music. but i never have any recollection of what manufacturer it was for & i never feel like rushing out to buy a car.
would love to do a 8mm tv ad for cycling... stationery angry car drivers with exhaust smoke spewing from their mouths all around / cut to a cyclist riding free.
my favourite anti-car moment was in the Unkle music video for the 'rabbit in your headlights' song. anyone see that? - a lone pedestrian stumbles up the middle of a busy road towards a tunnel, he is repeatedly hit by cars but pulls himself up again & carries on. then the pedestrian turns to an oncoming car throws his hand out towards it & the car explodes just as a great drum loop kicks in, it rocks

I know we're not supposed to get political on this board but I share Al77's views on cars 100%. An additional peeve I have is ads showing the cars racing around, essentially promoting dangerous driving habits. No wonder car accidents are the number killer of teenage males. I would like to hold the advertisers liable for much of the dangerous driving I see. I'd like to see that Unkle music video some time. I could rant more but I'll stop.al77 wrote:they seem to be dreaming about not being in a car. which makes sense, because if they were to show the reality - tediuous traffic jams, pollution, bascially wasting huge amouts of time & becoming a fat-ass when you could be getting some enjoyment & exercise etc, the ad probably wouldn't be that appealing.onsuper8 wrote:I'm still struggling with the link between "the summer of love" and driving a Ford!!!!!!!!! haven't seen that unkle video for ages, it's great! it's just rings true with that invincibility you can feel on the bike when the adreanaline is flowing. it will be my downfall i'm sure!
