Glueing Beaulieu 4008 ZMII parts ?

Post by Cheezy »

The metal plate that hides the mechanism and electronics inside the film compartment of my Beaulieu 4008 ZMII fell apart. From what I could observe, this part was originally glued. Can I just use regular metal glue like Loctite or else ?

Thanks.

basically you can glue it back with anything that comes handy, BUT - remember that that tplate is supposed to be detacheable for service. Behind it are the potentiometers to regulate speed etc.

SO use a glue that is adhesive anough to keep it in place, but can be unglued easily in order to have access to the interior without force.
have fun!

Ok, so the instant-extra-strong-everlasting-super-glue thing is not the best idea I've had today, right? Actually, I was more concerned about whether or not remove the old dried glue so that it doesn't make layers and get thicker under the plate, which might cause the cartridge to be offset in its compartment, etc., etc.
What kind of glue is strong enough to hold the plate for years and yet weak enough to let go off the plate when needed?

UHU plastic cement is pretty safe though the solvent tends to attack the paint. Theres a good surface area there so it really doesn't need to be too strong. A weak rubber cement would do too.
