Looking for information on converitng EUMIG NAUTICA to 24fps
Does anyone know how to convert an EUMIG NAUTICA from shooting 18fps to 24fps or 48 fps?
Thanks
Thanks

Bolex of Switzerland does the 24fps conversion. I think their price to overhaul a working camera is around $380US and they can perform the conversion then. I can't remember if there is an additional fee or not.
I don't know about 48fps. I've never heard of that for the Nautica.

I heard you can do it with a small screwdriver.
Any one know how?
I emailed Bolex of Switzerland. We'll see if they email back.
Thanks

wouldn't that be great
It would be so great to be able to shoot at a higher shuterspeed and achieve less shake. Especially when shooting surfing.
Let's pray to the God of Super 8 that we find out how to do it!

You are going to have to use filtration. Either an ND .2 or any other filter the steals around 2/3rd's of a stop of light. Like an 85b. (just don't use the internal filter and the external at the same time, unless you're going for a really warn effect)balsabill wrote:I am concerned though on what to do when I run out of K40. Maybe someone knows how to convert it to read Ectachrome 64.
If he shoots pro8mm stock, he will still be metering wrong.thesurflab wrote:You can shoot film from super8sound.com .

I bought it from a private party through the internet a few years ago (Not ebay). He gave me a choice between one at 18 fps and 24 fps for a little more money. I took the 24 fps one.
I have no idea who converted it.
I wouldn't have the slightest idea about how to convert it.
I will say, if you can find one or have one converted, you will get beautiful pictures. How it compares to one at 18 fps I couldn't tell you.

That's cool! I shoot surfing in Norway with my Eumig Nautica which currently is at GK Film in Germany for the conversion.

The guy I got it from didn't convert it. I don't know where he got.
I may be interested in selling mine when I finish my current project, in a couple of months.
I think the major problem is still going to be exposure with the new film but I'm sure someone will figure that out.
Probably Nyberg. He seems to have a handle on theis stuff. I bet he's already figured out how to convert his Nautica.
There are too many Nauticas out there and they are such great cameras and it seems there are some very talented techies out there who will figure out a simple mod to handle this.
I've mounted mine on a Gatt surfing helmet and I shot a test roll the other day. Until that I've had it strapped around my neck with a swimfin leash. It's kind of tough to paddle for the wave, get to my feet, then find the camera, get it turned in the right direction and turn it on, start filming and then turn the board, walk the nose, etc.
With the helmet, it leaves my hands free and it seems alot easier so far.

how much do they charge in Germany?
It's $290 to covert it to 24fps in Switzerland.
The price for it will be 290 US Dollars, including a check up of the camera, adjustment of all functions, a lubrication and including shipment back to the USA.

Not sure about that. I usually shoot the super8 sound 50asa in my camera. Is that a problem? It seems to come out Ok.
