Walmart K40 Processing - Wow!

Took my first K40 cart to Walmart last Saturday. Called the number on the receipt yesterday evening (Wednesday) on a whim just to see if any status was available. Automated response said it had already been processed and was to return today! Sure enough they had it by 12 noon. That's a week earlier than I was expecting it. $4.88 plus tax. Awesome service... maybe it helps that I only live about 60 miles from Dwayne's 8)

Sure hope Walmart supports E64T and E-6. Gonna have to do more S8 shooting with this type of turnaround.

Just viewed my first S8 reel and not bad at all if I do say so myself. That little Kodak Instamatic M4 camera I bought for $3 did a darn fine job...

I was recently tipped off to the fact that I can develop my Super 8 Kodachrome at Walmart, but when I called Walmart they said that they didn't develop it. Has anyone in the New York City area ever gotten their Super 8 developed at a Walmart out here? Granted you will have to go to Long Island or New Jersey but the discount is well worth the traveling.

Nope, there isnt a walmart at all. Theres rumor to be an opening soon in manhattan. But the closest one so far is in Long Island and that sucks for me. So I suggest we stick to dwaynes mail in order for now.

Don't let that discourage you. They know nothing about what they do or not process - as long as they have a drop-off point for processing, write 'K14 process Super 8 film" under special instructions, drop the envelope in the slot, and you'll get your film back in 8-12 days.

Driving on the LIE is never, in no way, in no form, worth a $5 discount. Are you kidding?

You're going to drive to Elizabeth, NJ or something to get to the nearest WallyMart from NYC to drop off film?

All this talk about Wal-Mart and I'm kinda curious. Who exactly is the middle man sending the film to Dwaynes. I was looking online and I for a long time thought it was Qualex. But then I was doing some research online and it seemed to indicate that both Wal-mart and Cala Foods (a Ralphs subsideary) was using Fujifilm. I also recall getting a letter from Fujifilm when they accidently messed up developing a cart of K-40 for me. So my questions is:

1. Wouldn't any place that contracts it film development to Fujifilm be able to process K40 or 64T? That would mean drug stores like CSV or Wallgreens.

2. If Fujifilm is doing this, can't they process their own single-8 film as well? or rather send it out to the right place for processing like they do Kodachome and Ektachrome.

Bummer we can't get Black&White processed this way.

I've been told by Walmart that Fujifilm is the "middleman" between them and Dwayne's. Imagine that. Fuji working to have Kodak film processed. Strange, huh? Does Dwayne's process Fuji film?

Konton - when I call the 1800 number for tracking (FL Wal-Mart) it connects me to a Fujifilm processing center in Georgia. I thought it was Qualex too until I called the line. I guess Fuji picks it up (maybe through Qualex) and forwards it to Dwayne's. It's really difficult to tell exactly what the flow is, but as long as it keeps coming back well-processed for under $5 USD before taxes, I'm happy.

I agree, but the point of this is that anyplace that uses Fujifilm as the middleman should be able to develop K40 or 64T, not just Wal-Mart. I guess the only way to find out is to do some research and risk a few carts of film on a test.

Think Dwaynes is ever going to do negative? It would be nice to process negative this way. Although I'm still mad we can't get B&W done this way.

Seconded. I'd start shooting quite a bit of Plus-X if I could get it processed for $4.88.

Somewhat related, has anyone done 16mm K40 through Wal-Mart recently? How much did it cost, and what did you write on the envelope?
