This could be a great thing...so what are the "rules" (hate to use that term) -- must be shot on S8 and must be a member of this forum? Time limit? Shot within the last 2/3/4/5 years?TomFoolery wrote: it would be best to set a submissions deadline far down the line (but not too far as to loose interest). So I'm proposing that the deadline will be Saturday, December 31st 2005.
Make it a resolution to submit a film!
Anyway, I'm sure if we get a program of say, 10-15 shorts there are enough members on the board who could set it up at screening venues where they live...

okay, this is really going to happen. I have Andreas blessing... actually I'm sure we will be working closely together to put on the best fest possible.
in a week or so we should have everything finalized, in the way of submission rules, deadline, etc.
with that said, let me say this... this can be BIG! this is a chance to show all the great work that is being done on small gauge. this means YOU submitting an entry, as well as telling everyone you know that shoots on 8mm super 8 or 9.5mm!!! to get going and send something in.
let me give you a taste of what this will be... "Filmshooting International Online Film Festival." Opening night to be streamed live. With a traveling program to follow!
To answer a previous question, I do not think it would be right to limit the submissions to forum members only. This is about the FILM. but this website is the "home" of this festival, announcements, advertising and the online streaming will go through this web site.
so stay tuned for future announcements. and please use this thread as a sounding board for what you think, what should this fest be about.
cheers for now.

Nice work!
I believe DVD projection of Super-8 film projects will allow for superior soundtracks to be created versus what can be created via wild sound, plus there is no danger of ruining or losing someones film original, and it will make the festival itself easier to run.
If you don't want too long of a delay between films, set up two DVD players and alternate them during the screening. Black and White looks terrific even on DVD projection, and color reversal still looks decent. The combination of bright video projectors that are now available and the distance to the screen make for an image that is more pleasureable to view (in my opinion) than watching mini-dv projected on the same projection system.

I can arrange to have the following films submitted to this program, both shot entirely on super-8 and finished digitally:
The Werewolf of Pawtucket

The Pirate Queen

No, you do not have to attend the festival. And the cool thing about this will be that if you can't, you can watch the live webcast of the "Filmshooting International Online Film Festival" (FIOFF). The fest may have it's own website down the line, but as this fest is directly tied to this website, all info can and will be found on http://www.filmshooting.com.
This fest will be more involved than my original concept (which is great) so bear with us as we iron out the details. The rules and submission form will be posted on this site ASAP. The deadline will not be til well into next year (I'm thinking late spring), so that gives everyone time to get those cameras rolling!
